About the Studio
What is Time Lag Design
A study of discovering patterns common to existence, re-editing them, and generating new vitality.
Old objects carry accumulated time. Objects have mass, and time dwells in mass. Mass → memory → presence → vitality — this chain is our starting point.
The idea of a magnetic field
When objects, people, space, time, and memory overlap, an invisible magnetic field forms, and objects gather at its center. We are not collecting objects — objects come to us. This sensation is at the core of the studio’s practice.
The act of editing time
Bring together things of different eras, backgrounds, cultures, and uses, and new meaning emerges. This is not styling — it is the act of editing time.
Common patterns
The world is made less of matter than of patterns: spirals, torus structures, fractals, resonance, overtones. The torus in particular — emission from a center, circulation, and return — appears in the Earth’s magnetic field, the heart’s field, the human body, and the cosmos.
Vitality
The aim of Time Lag Design is not to change vibrations, but to restore vitality to people and objects.
Studio
Based in Osaka and Kagawa, the studio works across generative art and graphic design, centered on plotter drawing with a Graphtec FC9000 and AxiDraw, two-color risograph printing, and laser cutting. Aesthetic influences: Escher, Vasarely, Sol LeWitt — minimal, rule-based, mathematical expression.
